  • About the artwork

“The Grounded Series consists of images made by physically constructing scenes in real spaces as opposed to working digitally. In this series, I have photographed the landscape, but with a twist. I began this series by sketching various ideas of how I could bring trees, grass, or clouds indoors as well as put curtains, wallpaper, and floors outside. After photographing the item that I was going transport, I printed the image close to life-size. Depending on the shot, I either adhered the image to foam board, a wall, or a ceiling to act as a prop or a backdrop. By blurring the boundaries between interior and exterior spaces, I attempt to create mysterious images that cause the viewer to do a double take. Within these real and fictional spaces, nothing is grounded.”

A beautiful image of 22.5 x 22.5 cm, carefully printed with archival pigment ink on off-white fine art paper with a size of 33 x 33 cm (so there is 5 cm margin).

This artwork is not framed. However, if you like to have this print framed: we suggest a matt black aluminum frame of 33 x 33 cm frame without passepartout and with a matted glass plate. After ordering the print you may contact us to know about the cost of the frame and have it added to your order. We will then frame the print for you.

Born in: 1968

United States

Keith Sharp (Chester, PA, United States, 1968) works as a photographer and art teacher based in Media, PA. Keith Sharp studied at the Philadelphia University of Arts. In 1991 he graduated fromThe University of the Arts, Philadelphia, PA - MAT and in 1990 he got his BFA from The University of the Arts, Philadelphia, PA. "I don’t just take photographs; I create and construct them. I attempt to create mysterious, subtle, and poetic images that cause the viewer to do a double take. Much of my work is inspired from my love of nature and plants. When beginning a new series, I let things percolate in my mind over time; reflecting on various images that have caught my eye and how i can transform them to play with our perception. Then i make sketches of the images that i will construct. After taking photographs of ordinary and everyday scenes of the world around me, i then transform them by reworking, layering, and juxtaposing these images on the computer." - Keith Sharp
