Igor B. Glik

Igor B. Glik

Born in: 1953

Igor Bitman aka Igor B. Glik (photographer name) is a French painter, of Russian origin and was born in 1953 in Moscow, he studied at the Fine Arts Academy of Soviet Union. He fled USSR in 1980 and after having lived in Italy and Canada, he moved to France for good in 1987, where he still lives and works. Igor Bitman's painting claims an artistic lineage with the Great Tradition, the one of Petrov-Vodkine or even Balthus. Classic workmanship, his creations are influenced by Italian painting masters, from the Renaissance period due to a play with perspective but also the religious themes. Photography always accompanied his painting activity in a way, as were it a sketchbook. Recently, encouraged by some of his photographer friends, the artist has distanced his photographic work from the supervision of painting, and therefore has taken up a pseudonym called Igor B. Glik.He has begun creating, showing and selling his photos as fully-fledged work. He regularly exhibits in Art galleries around France, Italy and Netherlands. He has done several personal exhibitions. He received many awards and honors, among which three were from the Institut Grand Prix du portrait in 1995. Bitman's work have been presented at several collector's in France, Netherlands, Switzerland, Italy, Canada, USA and Russia, to name a few.
