Biography

Alber is a French contemporary artist born in 1986 in Tourcoing, recognized as one of the rising figures in French street art and contemporary urban painting. He discovered graffiti at the age of fifteen and began his artistic journey within the collectives KTM and VIRTUAL TIME'S, driven primarily by the pleasure of painting and the freedom to intervene in public space. Gradually, he moved away from the traditional codes of graffiti to develop a more personal plastic language, while maintaining the spontaneity of the gesture and the mastery of the aerosol can. His work establishes a permanent dialogue between the street and the studio, making monumental murals and canvas paintings coexist in the same aesthetic search.

Alber's universe is immediately identifiable through his figurative portraits, geometric faces, and fixed blue gazes, often depicted frontally, in profile, or three-quarters view. Constructed by a subtle assembly of lines, curves, and colored planes, these characters become the artist's true signature. Created exclusively with spray paint, his works play with contrasts, volumes, and light to create an impression of depth while retaining the spontaneity specific to graffiti. His work is at the crossroads of street art, New Figuration, and contemporary painting, where graphic rigor and the energy of the gesture combine in an immediately recognizable aesthetic.

Identified very early as a promising talent in the French urban scene, Alber was invited in 2012 to create an intervention on the famous M.U.R. Oberkampf in Paris, a decisive step in his journey. In 2015, he participated in the Expressions Urbaines exhibition at the Bernard Magrez Cultural Institute in Bordeaux alongside major artists such as JonOne, Shepard Fairey (Obey), and Jef Aérosol. That same year, he created a mural for the Ocean Climax Festival in Bordeaux. In 2016, he was invited to paint the M.U.R. of Nancy and then participated in the International Street Art Festival ST+ART in Hyderabad, India, where he created a monumental facade. In 2017, he presented his first solo exhibition at the Galerie Barthélémy Bouscayrol in Biarritz, before exhibiting at the Cox Gallery and Loft 34 in Paris. Since then, his work has been shown in numerous exhibitions in France and internationally, notably in Orléans and Sri Lanka.

Constantly evolving, Alber pursues a search around the human figure, geometry, color, and the occupation of urban space. His characters gradually gain lightness and expressiveness while retaining their graphic power. Through a work where street art, graffiti, contemporary portraiture, aerosol can, New Figuration, urban art, and contemporary painting meet with coherence, Alber establishes himself today as one of the most promising personalities of the new generation of French street art.
