Biography

Janina Rossiter, aka Nina Rossiter - Author, illustrator, painter: ARTIVIST

The painter Janina Rossiter invites us to protect the oceans and its many riches through her liquid and poetic painting:

Janina Rossiter combines painting and drawing with a particular work on color and matter. Passionate about the oceans and aware of their problems, she works on the pollution that affects them. Thus, her Art is inspired by water to transcribe all its liquidity and fragility. Her pictorial technique takes up the effects of matter and color specific to the oceans to bring out their quintessence. Through this, the Artist wishes to make her voice heard to fight against the destruction of aquatic habitats.

“The environment and its protection are my favorite theme in my artistic approach. The fragility of our planet, and in particular that of the oceans, are all issues that I wish to highlight through Art. Water and nature are fundamental elements in my works. I also work by combining fluid art and alcohol ink, an ideal technique to talk about the world of water. Beyond arousing emotions, I wish to provoke in the viewer a feeling of need to act and commit to the protection of the planet."

In November 2021, his illustration "Mangroves", which was part of the "Sketch For Survival" competition organized by Explorers against Extinction, was selected to be exhibited in the VIP area of the Blue Zone at the UN Climate Change Conference COP26 in Glasgow, Scotland.

In May 2022, she participated in the ART FOR CHANGE program at the ChangeNOW summit in Paris. Four works from her book "123, who cleans the sea?" were exhibited at the Grand Palais Éphémère. She also spoke on the panel "building a culture for change".

In December 2022, his illustrations were exhibited at POLITICO, at Sustainability Future Week in Brussels.

In February 2023, they were selected to be presented in Vancouver, Canada for the International Marine Protected Areas Congress (IMPAC5).

In 2024, JANINA ROSSITER was invited to create the official poster of ChangeNOW 2024, the central totem, the monumental windows of the Eiffel stage and the Planet Ocean exhibition.

ChangeNow is a sustainability summit and with Janina Rossiter raising awareness of ocean issues and encouraging behavioural changes to protect the planet, this is a perfect fit.

“I loved ChangeNow the moment I set foot there in 2020 and it has been a dream to exhibit with them ever since. I never imagined that I would one day create the official poster for the summit, an absolute dream that I am very grateful for!"

As an artist, Janina feels happiest when she recreates images of the ocean in her paintings. "I hope that through my art and my love of the sea, I can make my voice heard and change things.
