Erick Huanca is a Peruvian artist from Arequipa. He pursued a degree in Fine Arts at the Superior Art School “Carlos Bacaflor”. He has established himself as an important figure in the Peruvian contemporary art scene and has been awarded multiple national and international awards. About his work, art critic Brea Llorens comments:
"For Huanca painting becomes a world, where an agitated temper, is revealed violent, intense, and peaceful at the same time. When he paints, he reveals his need to deliver and imprint those agitated moods on the canvas, committed to this task, and not displaying a detachment from the context, which demands from the viewers, a greater degree of comprehension and compromise as well.
His is a body of work delivered in pieces that are perfectly articulated within his melieu and present his opinions about our epoch. For his objectives, these pieces are not revealed as simple reproductions of a real objectual model; but rather as generators of messages that must be recovered by the viewer from their underlying layers."
