Bego Riba

In my latest art-work I experiment with realism and surrealism to create unique, provocative and suggestive images.

I analyse the shapes, colours and textures of everyday unnoticed objects, waste or rubbish, and I create between them a new connection by removing them from their usual context and altering the scale in which they are normally perceived, to provide them with more interest and prominence.

Working with techniques that allow me to have more precision and smoothness in the result like oils, charcoal, watercolor and ink, I create a contrast between the delicate  finish of the work and the coarseness of the object.

I am interested in the relationship created between randomly combined objects  and the reaction it causes in the viewer, producing a suggestive language of limitless readings.

1996-2001. BACHELOR'S DEGREE IN FINE ARTS, PAINT SPECIALIST, Faculty of Fine Arts at the University of Salamanca (Spain).

Bego Riba has been working full time as an artist since 2001. She currently live and work in Palma de Mallorca.(Spain).
