This artwork is distinguished by its masterful interplay of geometric shapes and colors. Dominated by a bold juxtaposition of horizontal black and white bands, the background creates a sense of perspective and depth. In the center, a complex rectangle catches the eye, composed of overlapping translucent squares in gray and blue tones, blending seamlessly together. Below, a series of small vertical bands in vibrant rainbow gradients add a dynamic and vibrant touch. The thin red line running horizontally through the work subtly frames the composition, accentuating the clear separation between the white top and the black base. This perfect visual balance reveals the artist's mastery of contrasts and chromatic harmonies, creating an intriguing and captivating visual experience.
Born in 1950 in Vendée in France, Joël Chasseriau is a self-taught visual artist, graphic designer, engraver and master art printer living in Paris.
A graphic designer for over twenty-five years, Joël Chasseriau was inspired by contemporary art when he visited the great studios of today's visual artists. Delving into the worlds of Robert Combas, Erro, Peter Klasen and Bernard Pras gave rise to the desire in him to participate in this creative effervescence and to launch himself into visual art.
Geometry and instinct. The artist instinctively begins his canvases with a first colored surface, this determining the next, and so on until the artist is completely satisfied. His work with the material and his singular aesthetic sometimes recalls the Bauhaus graphics that inspired him at the beginning. However, the painter absolutely does not seek to represent: he does not represent, he creates.
A recognized artistHis work in geometric abstraction has earned Joël Chasseriau numerous solo exhibitions in Europe, notably in France, Germany, Estonia, Belgium, Sweden and Denmark, but also in Israel.
