Biography
Pia Laureau and Manolo Chrétien met in 1987 at the Applied Arts Olivier de Serres in Paris. After years of experience in interior architecture, animation design, artistic education, photography, and graphic design, "man & pia" assert their "four hands" work, inspired by thirty years of artistic expertise and photographic wanderings around the world. Very sensitive to the work of time on industrial and urban supports, the two artists dwell on the details and materials that surround them: typographies and other symbols that fade away on corroded surfaces, in particular the painted walls magnified by time, rusted painted metal sheets, torn and worn posters in weathered colors. Pia and Manolo are particularly influenced by the movement of poster artists: Jacques de la Villeglé, Raymond Hains, Mimmo Rotella, whom they consider to be the pioneers of urban art.
