Things are not what they seem.
Biography
After two years at the Ecole nationale des Beaux-Arts, in architecture class, Alain Jacquet moved to
New York in the early 1960s. Close to new realism, the artist works having as an inspiration classical paintings and uses advertisements and magazines.
In 1963, In Paris, he took part in Mec Art Group which included artists such as Gianni Bertini, Pol Bury, Mimmo Rotella, and Pierre Restany. These artists used processes of mechanical production of images such as a screen painting, on different media (jute, hardboard, plexiglas, wood).
Alain Jacquet favors the pointillist aspect of the grid behind the picture. His works are exhibited at the Fraser Gallery in London in 1963, and Lo-las Gallery n New-York in 1964. In the early 1970s, he became interested in esoteric thought and in systems such as braille and his correspondence with The Yi-King ("Mandala", 1972 ; "La Barat-te", 1971-1975).
In 1978, the use of computer technology allows him to create "paintings of visions" from metamorphosed photographs of the earth, from which arises a possible cosmology ("The Truth coming out of the well", 1983; "Space Ship", 1988).
