Metamorphosis is an allegory of life's journey, represented through the unfolding of ancient civilizations across the Mediterranean. The exhibition is comprised of a series of carefully crafted and deeply personal works that reflect on myths and universal ideas. In them, the artist explores complex themes using a wide variety of techniques: Chinese painting, rice paper, collage, watercolor, oil, encaustic. She even ventures—true to the conceptual spirit of the work—into ceramic experimentation, achieving remarkable results.
Mazuecos stages a journey deeply imbued with her own life and laden with stories and legends, reclaiming that which unites us over that which divides us. In doing so, she transcends the universal plane of recognizable mythological and historiographical scenes to bring us to the here and now of her paintings. His work communicates—despite cultural differences—the striking similarities in human interpretations of life's great ideas, beliefs, and ideals throughout the centuries, revealing meanings we can all identify with.
