Spencer Tunick

Biography

Spencer Tunick is an American photographer born in 1967. He received his BA from Emerson College in 1988. 

Tunick is known for his nude “human installations". His photographic compositions rely on large crowds of naked volunteers which he photographs in places of national interest. Installations have taken place in Grand Central Terminal, New York; at the Sydney Opera House and in front of the Selfridges department store in the UK.


Tunick has held major installations in over 70 countries including Australia, Canada, the United States and Colombia. His works have been the subject of three documentaries titled Naked States, Naked World and Positively Naked. Tunick's work sparks conversations surrounding social and environmental issues through the lens of art and human expression.
