Born in Paris in 1949, Philippe Charpentier has studied management at the Paris-Dauphine University and afterwards he played the battery in several jazz bands for about ten years (1970-80).
He has also worked in Henri Goetz?s studio (painting and printmaking) from 1975 to 1980, before dedicating himself entirely to painting.
His first solo exhibition was held in 1981 at the Peinture Fraîche Gallery (rue de Bourgogne in Paris). He has been a part of hundreds of exhibitions and his work was presented at contemporary art fairs such as the FIAC or Art Basel.
