Haude Bernabé was born in August 1963 in Brest. She lives and works in Montrouge near Paris, France.
Haude Bernabé started exploring sculpture in 1990. She found refuge in the rouchness of metal, determined to tame this cold and resistant material. The atmosphere of tension and resistance in which this work forces her is a prerequisite for its expressiveness.
Haude Bernabé defies the roughness of the medium by shaping it up and molding it to obtain her touching and inspiring creatures. The sculpture is the vector of her inner life. It is through creation that the artist manages to manifest her emotions. By letting us discover her personal mythology, she lets us discover a forest of eloquent beings, symbols of the passions that animate the depths of her soul.
The artist integrates literature in her sculptures. She manages to materialize writing, to give it a form. Inspired by Albert Camus, Jean Genet or Bernard-Marie Koltès, Bernabé fills her soul with the words of the authors and manages to embody them, to give them materiality. The words of Camus: "We light, in a drunk sky, the suns that we want to" inhabit her characters. The artist frees and gives life to the meanings of writing. Bernabé dedicates herself, in this exhibition, to a more instinctive and primitive work in which randomness predominates, giving birth to wild, unpredictable figures and beings coming straight out of the artist's unconscious.
