Biography

Andrzej Kreutz-Majewski is a Polish artist born in 1936 and died in 2011. Known all around the world as a stage designer, he is also a renowned painter. After studying at the Academy of Fine Arts of Krakow (1959) and in Rome (1962), he started his career working at the Theater of Krakow, and at the Warsaw Opera, as a stage designer, in particularly in "Le Sacre du Printemps" by Stravinsky.

Andrzej Kreutz-Majewski works with some of the most famous operas and theaters all around the world, such as the Cologne Opera, the Covent Garden Opera in London, The Paris Opera House, The Hambourg Opera and the Municipal Theater of Luxembourg. He produces illustrious scenographies of operas, such as Debussy's "Prodigal Son" or Honegger's "Judith". A succession of coronations distinguish the artist, he was honored under the order of Poland (1993) and was the winner of numerous prestigious prizes, including the Prize of the Biennale of Arts in Paris (1961), quadriennale in Prague (1967) prize of first degree of the Ministry of Culture and Art (1975).
