I was out with the dog near my house and the sun had set behind the ridge. The mountains were almost black but you could still barely make out the ridges and trees along with the roofs and spare outlines of a couple of houses. The contrast with the sky was sharp, which was glowing pink and orange, fading into a deep blue and then purple above. The moon had risen, and it was large and visible in the coming darkness. There was a peaceful stillness to the whole scene in its simplicity. The painting is wired and ready to hang, the sides are gessoed white.

I turned to painting several years ago after a successful career as an architect, around the same time that I moved to the Reno/Tahoe area.
As a kid I was always drawing, painting, making models, little dioramas. I spent many of my teenage week-ends in museums and galleries in NYC and elsewhere; I couldn't get enough of the strange and alien/wonderful worlds they opened up to me. I still get the same thrill from work that makes me think or that surprises me.
When I paint, my starting point is the wish to get the same response in a viewer as my own spiritual appreciation for whatever I am looking at. I never know exactly where a painting will end up until it is done, because I am always trying new ways to get that, with a fresh look at the thing that interested me in the first place.
My work is also heavily influenced by my background as an architect; all the same ingredients go into both architecture and painting; perspective, color, form, materiality, and light. When they are most effective, both require a unique and inventive perspective that evokes an emotional response from the viewer, including myself. It is my hope that I am sometimes successful in this.

Can I negotiate the price of an artwork?
For some artworks, you can negotiate the price. If the price of the work is negotiable, you have a “Make an offer” button under the “Buy this work” one.
To submit your offer, you must make a payment of the desired amount. Your offer will then be forwarded to the gallery, which reserves the right to accept or reject it. If your offer is accepted, it means that your order is confirmed by the gallery and they will prepare the artwork for shipment. If your offer is rejected, you will be refunded the total amount paid automatically. The gallery can also propose a counter-offer for the acquisition of the artwork.

Where can I have my order delivered?
Artsper delivers worldwide!
However, please note that once your order reaches its destination, it may be subject to VAT or other customs fees. These charges are beyond our control and you will be responsible for paying them (this is indicated at the ‘checkout’ first step).
Select the delivery address of your choice. Please make sure that someone is present to receive your order.
If your billing address is different to your delivery address you can specify this at the checkout.
Return and cancellation
You can return the artwork without needing to provide a reason or pay a penalty fee up to 14 days after receiving your order.
In the case that the right of withdrawal is exercised in the aforementioned time frame, the price of the artwork(s) purchased and the shipping costs will be reimbursed by us as soon as the gallery has received the artwork and notified us.
Artsper will manage the return of the work and will bear the cost of returns (which will either be paid by you and refunded by Artsper or directly paid by Artsper).
The artwork must be returned in perfect condition and in its original packaging (or equivalent).
