Description

This artwork commands attention with its audacious display of abstract expressionism. Dominated by a resplendent yellow canvas, this piece features a complex interplay of black, white, and sporadic hints of secondary colors that create a dynamic visual impact. The vertical orientation of the painting accentuates its strikingly elongated form. Central to the composition is a vertical axis of jagged, fragmented forms painted with assertive brushstrokes. The black elements provide a sense of weight and structure, grounding the piece amidst the luminous yellow background. Interspersed among these dark forms are blocks of white and occasional splashes of muted colors, which introduce contrast and rhythm to the artwork. The juxtaposition of these colors creates an engaging tension that draws viewers deeper into the canvas. The layers of paint are applied with vigorous, confident strokes, suggesting both movement and depth. The varying textures and thicknesses of the paint add a tactile quality, inviting close inspection. This work is a powerful exploration of form and color, where the intensity of the yellow background serves as an energetic stage highlighting the dramatic narrative of the darker, more defined shapes. Overall, this piece is a compelling example of modern abstract art. Its striking use of color, bold composition, and textural execution render it a captivating focal point, certain to provoke contemplation and admiration.

Presentation

"My spirit becomes wonderfully and uniquely noble and, out of nowhere, the sense of variability which has an inexplicable strength embraces me and gives my existence some mystery and makes me the hero of my paintings. I humbly obey to the spirit within and surrender to the power of the world being created where I am allowed to exist and fulfill my mission. But only then can I feel that I exist and breathe. I wish I could stay there forever; in this surreal world, which is sometimes more real than reality itself; there, exists the proximity to God which becomes part of the fantastic world called art." - Moko Khachatryan

My adoration for art was ignited in me as early as I can remember; I believe I was 3 years old when I started painting. My father, who had himself dedicated his life to art, was most certainly the driving force behind my career choice, indeed.

I never go by a specific theme, or perhaps, very seldom. I let my strong drive for expression guide me every step of the way. It's all about delivering my feelings on my canvas; I allow my perception on various philosophical, sensual, emotional topics or even fears to flow through me and my hand does the rest. I believe thoughts can sometimes destroy emotions, hence, I try never to "question", when I paint.

Technique, style, medium; these are of course important, but those do not determine our artistic approach. We have expressions and for some, messages to relay - so we paint, draw, sculpt - in whichever way we are best fit to express, we work with; in my case, I use my brushes, colors and canvas. If you took those away from me, I'll find some other way to express my emotions.
