About the Artist: Born in 1980, ArtRat is an urban artist with a lifelong passion for art. Fueled by street culture and deeply influenced by major figures such as Blek le Rat and Banksy, he developed an early fascination with stenciling and socially conscious art.
For many years, ArtRat inhabited the Parisian urban space by creating stencil rats—symbols of freedom, resistance, and a critical perspective on society. Long remaining anonymous and ephemeral, his interventions engaged in a dialogue with the street, the passerby, and the present moment. In recent years, ArtRat has chosen to fully embrace his work and present his creations to the public. While retaining the raw and committed spirit of street art, his works now find their place on permanent supports, bridging the gap between urban and contemporary art. Through the figure of the rat, ArtRat explores notions of power, freedom of expression, and the role of art in public space, using an aesthetic that is simultaneously poetic, provocative, and accessible.
