Ai Xuan

Born in China in 1947, Ai Xuan is a realist painter. He graduated from CAFA in 1967.

Xuan's signature canvases are inspired by his travels to Tibet. Stylistically, his work is a unique blend of traditional Chinese and Western styles. The combination of classical Chineseink painting on traditional Chinese art paper with Western watercolor techniques produces a distinctive oeuvre. 

Ai Xuan has exhibited his work in New York, Hong Kong, Monaco and Beijing. His half-brother, Ai Weiwei, is also a celebrated contemporary artist.
