Studying biology, he decided to devote himself to photography in 1976 after an internship in Arles with Leslie Krims, Duane Michals, Paul de Noojier and Christian Vogt. In 1983, he was the first resident photographer-visual artist at the Villa Medici in Rome. His work was then distinguished by numerous prizes.
He exhibited at the Galerie Agathe Gaillard in 1982, 1985, 1990 and at the Cartier Foundation in 1985. François Delebecque is also presented in various French institutes and cultural centers, in galleries (BCA Gallery London, WM Gallery Amsterdam, Galerie Huit Arles,… ) and he participates in several festivals in France and abroad.
His works are present in the permanent collections of numerous funds and institutions including the FNAC, the BNF, the Cartier Foundation (Paris) and the Cantini Museum (Marseille).
François Delebecque lives and works near Paris.
