Presentation

Milan was born in 1991 in Toulouse to a Martinican father and a Spanish mother. He has lived and worked in Paris since 2015.

After studying design, Milan Sanka returned to his first passion in a self-taught way during an artistic residency: painting.

Since 2019, Milan has exhibited in several Parisian galleries and has participated in several artistic projects, in particular charitable projects, in collaboration or on his own initiative.

He has always been interested in human, social, economic and political relationships, identity and scenes of everyday life. The masks of his characters, inspired by his Caribbean origins, make them anonymous and therefore universal. The flat black, a mirror reflecting the world and society, is illuminated by the white lines surrounding the scenes and by its touches of bright colors.

Man, heir to all his ancestral cultures, evolves in his time with all its nuances and contradictions.

Topics are non-judgmental and non-judgmental. These are observations, facts, legends and stories. In a satirical, offbeat or serious way, Milan seeks to highlight certain scenes of our time often hidden in the shadows. He paints a scene, a fact, a memory. It invites the individual to recognize themselves, to question themselves and to observe the world around them.
