Presentation

Loïc Le Groumellec was born in Vannes, Brittany, in 1957. He graduated in 1980 from the School of Fine Arts in Rennes and the Yvon Lambert gallery in Paris organized his first personal exhibition in 1983. His works are part of prestigious private collections, and have integrated the collections of the CAPC in Bordeaux, the Museum of Fine Arts in Rennes and the Museum of Modern Art of the City of Paris.

They have also been exhibited by important international institutions, including the New National Museum of Monaco, the French Institute of Cologne in Germany, the Hermitage Foundation in Switzerland, the Montreal Museum of Contemporary Art in Canada and the Juan Miró Foundation in Barcelona, Spain.

During his studies at the School of Fine Arts in Rennes, Loïc Le Groumellec discovered in the institutional archives a set of lithographs depicting megaliths – a structure he knows well. Born in Vannes, he grew up in the Gulf of Morbihan, rich in mystical Neolithic vestiges. The enigma of the wall inscriptions of the Cairn of Gavrinis, which remain undeciphered to this day, the dolmens, the menhirs, the wild nature of his native Brittany feed his imagination, as for generations of artists and writers before him.
