Biography

Ryo Yoshikawa is a Japanese painter, born in 1971. He studied at the Fine Arts school in Tokyo, and graduated. Following this, he received a grant from the Japanese agency for cultural affairs which allowed him to study for a year in Florence.

In his acrylic compositions, Ryo Yoshikawa pays special attention to light and its deconstruction. His paintings have a contemporary style and a traditional Japanese pictorial look, with a subtle balance.

The artist has done several personal and collective exhibitions, mainly in Japan but also in France and Italy. His work was also rewarded by six prizes in Japan, Mihama Fine Arts Exhibition in 2007. He also took part in fairs like the Tokyo Art Fair, Art Fair Taipei and Art Elysées in Paris.
