Sarah Maple was born in 1985.

Sarah Maple grew up in the English countryside, with a Muslim mother and a Christian father; this dual heritage shaped her life and her artistic practice.

Sarah's work is centered on two main themes: women who assert themselves and Islam. Her approach is always provocative and she plays various roles in order to find the perfect positioning. In one of her works, she portraits herself praying while wearing bunny ears.

In 2007, Sarah won the "4 New Sensations" prize, supported by the famous art dealer and collector Charles Saatchi. The prize intends to distinguish the most imaginative and talented art students in the United Kingdom. Since then, the work of Sarah Maple has been shown New York, Canada, Israel and across Europe.

Sarah describes herself as "an artist, a feminist, and an activist". She takes inspiration from the problems she was confronted by while growing up as a Muslim in the South of England, her work questions gender issues, sexuality and religion, always being provocative and with a lot of humor!

Her work is the result of a young Muslim woman's search for her own identity while living in a diverse environment, with few other Muslims around her, except from her family members. She confronts serious and complex issues, from a fun perspective and in a joyful tone.
