Sylvie Basteau

Sylvie Basteau is an artist from Bordeaux who, since her childhood, has continued to show and make people feel the unique and precious vibration that nature transmits to us in an increasingly fragile way today. Her childhood, in a wine estate in Périgord, made her very attentive to space, lights and movements from the start. Painting imposed itself on her very early on.

She studied art history and as part of university research on the architect of the Tadj Mahal, she went to India where she stayed for more than a year. Marked by this country and its culture, she will continue her travels, particularly in the Atlas Mountains, in search of colors and materials.
Her artistic line quickly imposed itself on her: remaining on a crest between abstraction and the representation of the sensitive. Relentlessly, she seeks this delicate balance. She can only grasp it and impregnate her canvas with it in the secrecy of her workshop, at the bottom of a garden. She has two quests: light and movement.

Sylvie Basteau has exhibited among others for many years in two recognized galleries with which she has established deep links, the Galerie Le Troisième Œil in Bordeaux and the Galerie Protée, rue de Seine in Paris, which also presents her work at fairs. and Contemporary Art Centers.
