De Caso Michel

Michel De Caso was born in Toulouse in 1956.

MDC is an unclassifiable artist who can be described as polysemic.

At first self-taught, he perfected his art in Paris at the University of Paris I Panthéon-Sorbonne as well as at the National School of Decorative Arts (ENSAD). His works (paintings and sculptures) have been presented in numerous exhibitions, both in France and abroad.

In 45 years of practice, he crossed several currents, art brut (or art without borders), abstract art, expressionism, so-called "psychoanalytical" art, surrealism, visionary art... until the invention of a unique concept, the "Rectoversion", neologism built sur on the words "recto" (sight side) and "verso" (hidden side).

One finds in the works of MDC the unconditional love of the Trade, enriched by a tireless intellectual and plastic curiosity.

These various expressions translate “his" truth, paradoxically fragmentary, a hybrid vision of the world that surrounds him, while remaining rooted in a humanity that goes beyond him.

He shaped a luminous imagination, to walk towards his deepest poetry and had to often go through the shadows, to reach "his" light...

Today, nourished by all this journey, his work with matter and his creative power are expressed through a strong, instinctive, almost carnal abstraction...
