Bernard Marie Collet, born August 14, 1940, is a French painter.
After his studies in Paris at the Lycée Buffon and the Sorbonne, he studied at the Académie Julian and the Beaux-Arts in Paris. He frequented the entourage of artists from the Salon de Mai and especially painters of the new School of Paris such as Alfred Manessier, Édouard Pignon and Orazi, for whom he was the assistant in his studio in Montparnasse. His relationship with the Brazilian painter, sculptor and photographer, of Polish origin, Frans Krajcberg was decisive. His defense of nature and terrestrial biodiversity were the source of an important spiritual encounter.
In the studio Bernard Marie Collet works on half-figurative, half-abstract compositions in oil, pastel or acrylic inspired by natural elements: foliage, clouds, rocks, shores, etc. He also creates collages and paper cut-outs inspired by current events or ancient myths. On the motif many pastels brought back from his travels around the Mediterranean: Italy, Corsica, Egypt, Greece, Jordan, etc...
Since 2010, Bernard-Marie Collet has been part of this original universe, positive and colorful, which energizes the permanent artistic selection of the Plurielle Gallery in Sète (34).
