Presentation
Marie Serruya is a French artist born in 1991 to a French father and a Polish mother, both artists.
This multidisciplinary artist expresses herself through a multitude of artistic forms, from sculpture to comedy, through directing, performance, dance and installation.
A rebellious and passionate child, Marie Serruya left school at the age of 16 to pursue a theatrical career in Paris. She has acted in various theatrical productions, including an adaptation of the play ''Yvonne, princess of Burgundy'' by Witold Gombrowicz. His experience in the world of theater has fueled his creativity and his passion for comedy.
Self-taught, Marie Serruya draws inspiration from her environment and her varied experiences to create works that are so many mirrors of contemporary society. She is particularly interested in human comedy and how individuals interact with each other and the world around them. For this, she uses humor as a privileged means of expression, playing on comical and absurd situations to make the viewer react, often staged by the artist in interactive works.
His portraits in clay, enamels, watercolour, gouache, gold leaf, bronze, video and other media, tiny or gigantic, static or animated, constitute the common thread of his work.
A fine observer, it is by taking a sharp look at the men and women who cross her path that she develops her unique and deliciously offbeat universe.
