Biography

Born in 1969 in Toulouse where he still lives and works.

Laurent Minguet likes multidisciplinary creation combining artistic approach and design.

Advocate of acrylic on canvas since his younger days, he taught himself and continues to paint by brush, improving his unique hyper-realistic design style inspired by the car “silhouettes".

From 1995, he has given a new orientation to his work by focusing on the urban landscape and in 1998, for the first time, he exhibits his work together with the sculptor Paul Day.

For several years, he has dedicated himself to his core craft, street furniture specialty designer, creating more than 150 products and equipping many European cities including the district of La Defense, the OECD gardens in Paris and the site of the World Expo in Lisbon.

However in 2003, 2005 and in 2009, he achieved 3 successive painting exhibitions in Tahiti where he spent some time. He takes his inspiration in the Polynesian themes that he combines with his urban character vision.

Today Laurent Minguet has gone off the world of design to take up painting. He presents us his new series titled Wood_City. He uses as background cherry wood or walnut. The veining offers a dynamic which is enhanced by large monochrome runs. The superimposed urban landscapes convey several possible interpretations.
