Jean-Michel Loutoby

If Loutoby's universe is multifaceted and prolific - painting, sculpture and photography - his artistic approach is entirely focused on reconciliation with his past and his roots as a Caribbean artist. His works bear witness to a deep anchorage in this region of the world from where the mixing and mixing of worlds has emerged a new form of culture. The West Indians are the result of a confrontation, coexistence and encounters of several cultures. Their skin colors, their traditional costumes and their music tell it all. Loutoby invites his contemporaries to take a benevolent and tolerant look at his compatriots. It is at the heart of the Caribbean that Loutoby draws these vibrations which he perpetuates in his works, often accompanied by a poem written with his pen. 

In his painting, reality rubs shoulders with the unreal. His brush dips into his inner heart where swarms of characters who inhabit his soul. Loutoby is an optimistic artist. His messages are just as important. From work to work, the color palette of his paintings celebrates life, joy, freedom and the love of sharing.

His wood sculptures in mahogany, a local wood, reveal silhouettes and faces. They make you want to touch them.
