Biography

Born in 1984, J.C. Kanter is an American artist who lives and works in New York.

J.C. Kanter uses images and photos in order to convey strong social and political messages, through digital art.

Inspired by Christian Merra, founder and director of Il Gilardi, the idea of social art is so that the collector can directly interact with the artist, as she has access to information such as the last trip or favorite kind of music. This "link" between the collector and the artist has been brought into being through the concept created by J.C. Kanter, who has managed to transform and make the commonly used symbol look attractive, the square shaped bar-code, also known as QR. He uses the latter like a tool by inserting works, allowing the collector to receive information on a daily basis through the artist's updates. Through art, the artist and collector are"linked" for the first time.
