"He left without his laundry" is a diptych and therefore comes in 2 pieces. Each canvas measures 24x30 inches. This painting was inspired by the narrow streets in France, the row-houses with their tiny balconies, where everyone hangs their laundry out to dry. The boyfriend left, his laundry still on the line... hence the pensive look on the girls face.

ART WITH A STORY
I love working with mixed media materials such as acrylic paint, oil pastel, paper, textiles just to name a few. Both my 'figurative' and 'abstract' work is created with intuitiveness and gusto and derives from "the belly button", the gut. Even though my brushstrokes are bold and spontaneous, I do like to pay attention to details in my work. My art is influenced by current events, personal experiences, travel and people I meet; people from various walks of life, backgrounds and personalities. I spontaneously take photographs of subjects that move and impress me. But I never use them as a reference for my paintings. Those snapshots are like the fuel that drives me to be creative. It's more like "the painting decides the journey of my brush". One brushstroke leads to another until I have reached the destination.
ABOUT ME
I was born and educated in Switzerland where I taught Kindergarten for several years. As a young adult I moved to Vancouver, Canada. I am a self directed professional artist, taught art to children and adults for many years. Since 2007 I work from my home based studio in North Vancouver and exhibit my work in Canada and Europe.
