Florence Malcombe feeds on the present, with infinite precision fixes the moment. She dives into the marine abysses, loses herself in all horizons, loses herself in limitless spaces.
So she builds, assembles and structures the shelter. The shelter, the habitat, the dwelling, the cabin, the city, fragile and ephemeral. The shelters at the very top of the totems, perched like birds' nests, protected untouchable!....
But isn't man's first shelter his own body, the fleshly envelope, the skin, the first rampart against external aggression? His work reveals this body to us, in its transparency, the strength of the feeling in front of his paintings is uncompromising.
The body becomes an architecture, and its architectures come to life! Florence Malcombe's work offers a reflection on the place of man on earth.
She is a complete artist. Over several years of research, she has developed a technique that is unique to her. Her paintings are filled with natural materials that she gleans, that she steals from the sea to return them to the sea(e) with her very personal technique, powdery materials thirsty for pigments that she happily waters.
