A summer break by Sophie Griotto

In this new creation, Sophie Griotto captures the essence of a summer in Arcachon, between clear skies, warm sand, and memories in the making. We discover the Banc d'Arguin, the natural jewel of the basin, bathed in a soft and silent light.

An adult and a child walk side by side along the water's edge, their feet in the foam, shadows stretched across the golden sand. Time seems suspended. This simple, almost silent scene evokes the tenderness of a shared moment, a strong yet discreet intergenerational bond. To the left, a floral-patterned parasol sets the scene: vivid and colorful, it contrasts gently with the pastel blue of the sky. On the horizon, a small ochre sail stands out, carried by a wooden boat. We imagine the sea spray, the laughter, the departures out to sea.

Sophie Griotto's style, blending pastel hues and delicate lines, gives the whole an irresistible visual poetry. Every detail—the fringes of the parasol, the reflections in the water, the grain of the sand—contributes to the dreamlike and luminous atmosphere typical of her illustrations. A tender and elegant tribute to the Banc d'Arguin, to the sweetness of life in Arcachon, and to those simple moments that silently become unforgettable memories.

Presentation

Sophie Griotto was born in 1975 in Alès. She studied applied arts in Nîmes and then in Toulouse before moving to Paris where she worked for a large advertising agency. In 1988, she started working as a freelancer, as a storyboarder, which led her to make films for prestigious houses such as Dior or Jean-Paul Gaultier. She then decided to turn to illustration in 2003.

Her illustrations are inspired by the world of fashion, the world of media, the world of childhood and poetry. Women play a main role in her creations, she is represented in all her modernity.
Sophie Griotto uses a lot of fabric, which allows her to highlight the colors and patterns.

In 2014, Sophie Griotto was entrusted with the decoration of a Parisian hotel located at the rue de la Paix.
The illustrator is part of the art book "100 Illustrators" as well as in "Illustration now, Fashion" by Taschen.
