BLACK MOOD
BLACK IS THE NEW WITH
Depth, contrast, night, chiaroscuro, shadow and light.
Artists love black and we love these works where black reflects light.
ArtCom Paris has listed the use of black in the practice of the artists of the gallery.
For Léa Dedieu “We see better in the dark”. Black is a contrasting surface to reveal an outline. The light of the black filters volumes, creates the concentration to give to see. She uses this use of color in her series of floating objects. Black is a coloring, it brings out the subject of the image.
Artist Sylvie Guyomard applies black in her Ecumes like a flattened color. It is a satin black, which plays with the surrounding light and directly reflects the matte and textured white of his canvases. Black and white face each other, a fiery battle between two energies, like an oceanic ying and yang. The artist applies black to confront the materials with each other and to act as a revealer of their vibrations.
Black Bird is a monumental ceramic piece made up of hundreds of enamelled pendants by artist Fabienne Auzolle. The sculpture is a large circle with calm lines drawn by these pastilles of different shades of black. Here, the black is soft, the enamel reflects its forms through light and its plural tonality of black. The artist in this work uses a calm and confident use of black, in keeping with his sculptural practice.
For Célia Picard, black is an outline. Color of ink, it is the tool of the psyche to translate its ideas on paper ... Black draws reality.
