Over its 50-year history, ANQUINS gallery has established links with many artists and other people who have taken part in the exhibitions and activities that the gallery has organised since 1973, when my parents set out on the adventure of opening an art gallery in the city of Reus.
With the VINCLES exhibition we want to celebrate and thank the artists and all the people linked to the gallery who have accompanied us along our path. It has been a journey full of discoveries, good times, surprises and the odd bump in the road along the way! And it is a journey we hope will continue for many years to come.
VINCLES offers a small taste of fifty of the artists with whom we have currently maintained a tie. Not all of them are represented –there are more– but this collection is representative enough of the artistic line of the gallery, which has always been open to a wide range of languages, expressions and styles. Every painting and sculpture has been specially created or selected to form part of this exhibition which we have prepared with great enthusiasm.
We want the celebration of our gallery’s 50th anniversary to be a homage to all the artists, past and present, and to my parents, the founders of the gallery. That is why VINCLES is an exhibition that complements the 50 Years of Art exhibition at the Cal Massó Art Centre and the book “Crònica d’una galeria d’art particular” by Tate Cabré which looks back on the whole story of the gallery.
ANQUINS is an art gallery, but it is more especially a place for meeting, reflection and communication where the human dimension is fundamental. At a time when the digital world seems to have attenuated human relations, we would like to return to the force of art and culture to establish links and enrich our lives.
I hope that we can continue to celebrate that with you for many more years!
