Kpe Innocent

Kpe Innocent (born 1994), a self-taught visual artist, strives to create works that resonate with people around the world by incorporating themes of love, grace, and hope, and by speaking about the conditions that affect us as human beings. Incorporating pop culture references, for example the Nike sportswear logo, into his works is a way of capturing the globalized world and representing the commonalities of the entire human race, regardless of geographical boundaries. or sociological, because ultimately we all have the same fears and we all hope for better things.

Kpe's paintings are primarily done in acrylic on canvas, and he infuses his interest in minimalist design and aesthetics (with an emphasis on negative spaces and shapes) into his traditional painting practice. The paintings are adorned with muted, earthy colors, and the abstract figures are rendered in black and white (with a tendency toward the shade of gray). These figures are most often isolated (to represent our natural state of individuality).
