Lectura

Paris From December 11, 2020 to December 19, 2020

Presentation
The Fibery presents from December 11th to December 19th the new series of the artist Annita Romano, "Lectura"!

"Lectura" was born far beyond the visible... between word and gesture. In a place that is not a place but a hiatus, a crack ... an in-between impregnated with reminiscence and oblivion crossing the same frame.
These small worlds made of superimpositions, folds and folds offer us an infinity of possibilities where the mystery of what is shown and hidden is nested... Sensitive to the intimate, to memory and to the unconscious, "Lectura" blossoms in an irreversible time inscribed on matter, built point after point, oscillating between the said and the unsaid.

- Annita Romano

Lose yourself in the meanders of threads, enter the spaces freed by the weft of the "Lectura" series composed of small formats; bandages for the soul of a deep beauty.

ABOUT ANNITA ROMANO

Annita Romano is a Brazilian artist born in 1966 in São Paulo and living in the Paris region.
After obtaining several degrees in art and architecture between 1990 and 1996 in different institutions in Brazil, she began a career as an architect and interior designer. Since 2006, she dedicates herself entirely to her work as an artist and chooses fabric as her preferred means of expression. From then on, she will continue to nourish her reflection on this medium by following, notably in 2009, a course in Art History at the Louvre School in Paris.

Annita Romano tells her story in these books, whose pages need not be turned. As paper, old and worn fabrics that she superimposes then lays bare in places to bring up depths, like buried treasures, her stories punctuated with stitching and embroidery.

The works are elaborated, in their entirety, from old fabrics, silk and linen, dyed, embroidered, frayed and aged by hand, acrylic paint, gold powder and gold thread. The "Lectura" series is composed of works ranging from 13 to 16 cm in height, and 10 to 13 cm in width, and can be freely associated by diptych, triptych, or left as a single piece.
