Sculpture, abstraction, and organic wool in tactile explorations of space, form, and nature.
Antonio Labuhar (b. 1996, Zell am See, Austria) is a Croatian artist based in Vienna whose multidisciplinary practice explores the intersection of sculpture, abstraction, and interior design. Working primarily with organic wool, he creates tactile works that function as sensory anchors within an increasingly disembodied world.
After a period in Berlin working as a motion designer and VFX artist, Labuhar returned to Vienna, where he completed a Master of Science in Digital Design – Experimental Media at the University of Applied Sciences St. Pölten in 2022. His background in digital design informs his sculptural practice, creating a dialogue between digital experience and physical materiality.
Labuhar's work investigates materiality, space, and emotion, moving between physical presence and imagination. Through natural and sustainable materials, he brings elements of nature back into constructed environments. His works emerge through a deliberate process that establishes a dialogue between softness and form, intimacy and object, encouraging viewers to pause, feel, and reconnect with the tactile qualities of nature.
His recent presentations and selected works include Lucid Dreams Festival, Vienna; Vienna Design Week; Art for Hope at Dorotheum, Vienna; House of Digitalization, Tulln; and exhibitions and presentations in galleries, design spaces, and cultural institutions throughout Austria. His practice continues to develop at the intersection of contemporary sculpture, material experimentation, digital culture, and spatial experience.
