Hugo Baudoin discovered the world of art and painting during his studies in applied arts and space design. He has always been inspired by the world of extreme sports but also by different cultures, through ethnic masks and, more locally, Commedia dell'Arte masks. His work refers to figures, to the hidden face of everyone... The figure here is social iconography, sexual symbol, aesthetic fantasy...

Hugo tries to reinterpret the world through a certain sensitivity, putting people face to face with their individuality, by portraying what psychotic inner self under influence… These characters are there to surprise, challenge and question the viewer. Whether the character is alone or in the middle of a crowd, it is always a question of going beyond appearances, of translating societal rules, of revealing, of somehow going through the mirror to expose another truth. Faces or grimaces, the expressiveness of the line is there to reveal an "otherwise". The challenge of the encounter between these two extremes for the artist certainly translates into a search for freedom and mysterious alchemy that is always in progress. Who am I behind the mask? Who am I in the crowd?
