In the exhibition “Gesture” Nora Ampova presents a new series of paintings. In them, she turns to the landscape to find herself. Not her orderly and balanced self, but that nature of hers hidden in the storm of emotions of the gesture. “After several years of living outside Bulgaria, surrounded by the pastoral nature of France, I am coming back home for a new life in Bulgaria. Through the gesture of the brush I’m telling new stories. Sometimes sharp and cut like with a sword, other times smooth or golden like dust from a children’s tale.”, says the artist.

In her new exhibition, Nora Ampova has abandoned the familiar carefully arranged compositions. She rejects the cut horizontals and verticals, she has gotten rid of the bright chemical colours to make room for lush vegetation in warm earth tones. Everything in these paintings is created in one breath, with a stroke of the brush, and possesses an inimitable finish.
