Cradled by Old Castile and then by the Lot countryside, Marcos Rodrigo was first introduced to sculpture by his father. He then practiced drawing during his solitary years spent at boarding school. From literary discoveries to artistic discoveries, he found his way in the female portrait. After several trips across Europe and his encounter with the paintings of the greatest masters, he created his first oils. Over the years, his practice of drawing, his experience with pastels and oils, enriched a universe open to all artistic cultures. The woman constantly returns to take possession of his canvases. Sometimes lascivious, sometimes rebellious, she wanders her sensuality through a posture of abandonment fueled by dreams or melancholy. If she is often naked, she is never truly naked. Her face buried in her own body or veiled by some accessory, she seems to hide from the gaze of the other, who can thus not grasp her mysterious essence. Locked in her solitude, her daydreams and her thoughts, she is on first-name terms with the inaccessible and seems to reject those who look at her into the world she herself contemplates. In this subtle play of mirrors where everyone seems to spy on each other, the woman carries within her the secrets of an existence difficult to decipher. From the year 2025, he abandoned oil painting to devote himself entirely to acrylic, which opened up a new field of possibilities for him. These last paintings are more spontaneous, more energetic and more contrasted, while retaining his very particular style and personal touch.
