Villa del Arte presents Kerry Horne's solo show: What do you See?

Horne finds inspiration for his new exhibition in Thoreau's famous quote: "The question is not what you look at but what you see."

When he paints, Kerry Horne captures daily-life routines, moments that pass through us without realising. Almost as a photographer, he captures the essence of an instance. His thick and energetic brushstrokes reflect the fleeting nature of the moment, while the bright colours and sharp combinations catch our attention, and forces us to stop and look. What do we see? That's on each of us.

Sometimes we try to see meaning in things that are seemingly meaningless, or are unable to perceive the depth of a meaningful matter. It is from this leap of thought, on this interface, that Kerry Horne creates his work with which the viewer struggles. It is in the silence when one questions what is before their eyes that interpretations come to life, and where new ideas are discovered.

We invite you to stop and look, to interpret Horne's paintings to then to forget what you first thought and re-interpret it.
