Born in the vibrant cultural hub of London in 1971, Chelsea Davine now calls the sun-kissed streets of Barcelona her home and artistic sanctuary. Drawing inspiration from the ephemeral beauty of everyday life, Davine’s work captures the essence of fleeting moments and overlooked details. From walking around the city of Barcelona and the hills surrounding it, to the forests of the Pyrenees and the coastline of Costa Brava.
In this solo show, she takes the opportunity to present a collection of paintings that invite us to get absorbed in nature’s wonders. As she watches and experiences the seasons change, she captures the beauty of the first snowfalls in Winter, the blossoms of Spring, the deep cadmium reds and burnt oranges of high Summer, and Autumn’s golden browns.
The paintings collected in this exhibition are mainly presented on canvas, although Davine chooses steel panels for a few playful abstract compositions. She uses oil paint and gold, silver, and copper leaf to emulate nature’s colours and seasonal changes. The final compositions glow and subtly change as the daylight changes. Chelsea Davine’s elegant work invites us to get lost with her in the wonders of nature, pause, breathe and connect with our surroundings.
