NÎMES From July 30, 2019 to August 29, 2019

Presentation
Jeanne Saint Chéron in duet with: Claude Weisbuch A double exhibition From June 25 to August 31, 2019. This summer will be devoted to two masters of painting at Corps and Ame Gallery. Claude Weisbuch, who died in 2014, was a past master in the art of engraving, painting and drawing. These horses and their musicians have become essentials in French painting at the end of the century. As for Jeanne Saint Chéron, well known to the faithful of the gallery (this will be her fourth exhibition at Corps et Ame Gallery), she has always admired Claude, a real reference for her. First passionate about horses, women and music are now part of her favorite themes. The nudes, then the bulls, are his very last subjects. Claude's musicians and Jeanne's musicians will come together in harmony to present you an exhibition with 4 hands, without false notes. Born in 1973 in Pays de Loire, Jeanne Saint Chéron held her first exhibitions as a teenager. Her inspirations are partly drawn from the world of the horse, fascinated by both the explosive power and the refined elegance of the animal, the latter being very often associated in her compositions with delicate female characters. Music and dance also appear among the artist's favorite themes. The use of acrylic paint combined with black chalk (indelible drawing material, used in particular by the great masters of the Renaissance) allows him to work very graphic gestures, which is not without reminding us of Leonardo's preparatory drawings. da Vinci. The artist will also be very young, touched and dazzled by the powerful warrior horses of Rubens as well as by the grace of Botticelli's Madonnas. Rich in symbols, touching the imagination and romanticism, his dreamlike work transports us beyond appearances. Claude Weisbuch is a multidisciplinary artist born in 1927, and died in 2014 in Paris. Claude Weisbuch studied at the Beaux-arts in Nancy, he later turned to teaching engraving at the School of Fine Arts in Saint-Étienne. Little recognized at his beginnings, it was in 1961 that he met with success by receiving the annual critics' prize. If he is illustrated as well in drawing as in painting, Claude Weisbuch remains above all famous for his practice of engraving. In his engravings, the artist is inspired by his daily environment, painting in particular the portrait of opera or theater artists. Claude Weisbuch likes to work on contrasts. He mainly plays on a chromatic scale of brown and white. His engravings highlight the movement of the subject and the gestures of the artist. By his treatment, Claude Weisbuch gives his works an "unfinished" aspect, often leaving a large space for emptiness which gives even more strength, by contrast, to the subject.
