Biography
Shane Drinkwater is a decorative painter/designer with a background in Fine Arts Studies. He predominantly works with acrylic paint on paper, delving into the act of painting with a minimum repertoire of visual elements aiming for maximum visual intensity. He creates spontaneous images, easy to view but full of visual and emotive information, letting the viewer respond with his/her own perceptions.
Shane was born in Sheffield, Tasmania, Australia. He received a fellowship (4 months studio in Paris) and liked it so much he spent the next 6 years living and working in France, gaining invaluable expertise and experience with clients such as: world-renown interior designer Jacques Garcia: working in his 17th century Chateau Champ de Bataille in Normandy contemporary furniture designer Hubert Legall: restoring the historical studio of famous 19th century painter Pierre Bonnard, radically transforming the living space.
When talking what painting means to him Drinkwater states :"Painting is something I've always needed to do and I'm enjoying it more and more. I'm interested in the historical, scientific and artistic observation of the “heavens and earth"."
Shane has now been offering his services to private and corporate clients on the Gold Coast and Brisbane for more than ten years. His most recent projects include: exterior feature wall to entrance of CONDEV CONSTRUCTION office building in Robina, Milano luxury furniture show room, Barry Plant Real Estate (private home + corporate apartments on the Coast + office building in Melbourne), Australian Wings Academy at Coolangatta Airport, twenty-three apartments ( each highly individualized) in luxury waterfront development Allissee, Little Truffle dining room and bar.
Drinkwater received numerous awards and held exhibitions both in solo and group capacity all around the world.
