Presentation

Born in santos, Sao paulo, Brazil, he is a modern naive painter.

He currently lives in Peruibe, Sao Paulo, Brazil.

Ferreira's works represent the paradisiacal images of the Atlantic Forest, its birds, its fountains and its natives. His work is glad to show the truth revealed every day in this region, more precisely in the Ecological Station Juréia-Itatins. Since young, in addition to painting, also attracted interest in music, influenced by the grandfather who was a conductor and pianist. His mother was also a pianist and encouraged him to take an interest in art.

Ferreira, who lived part of his childhood with grandparents, played with the remains of canvases and paintings that his grandmother, who painted on porcelain and made small works of painting, gave him. Teenager, lived with his parents in São Vicente - São Paulo coast - and loved to go fishing town in the region, called Guamium. I spent a lot of time in this community and with the fishermen, many of whom were caiçaras, learned how to make canoes, tangles, canoes and continued to learn his fishing techniques, eventually becoming a professional fisherman.

While being satisfied with these activities and making a living in this way, Ferreira never stopped drawing. Scribbles and paints of everyday life, seaside landscapes, bars, boats and harbors, using what was at hand, charcoal, colored pencils, colored pencil or ink scraps from the paint boats.

Later, when fishing became impossible due to the degradation of the environment, he started working at the port of Santos, and it was there that he realized that tourists were interested in his style. of painting, then began to paint and sell small canvases in acrylic ink. The beginning was difficult, but he still realized that it could improve, broaden horizons and live off the sale of his works.

Between 1989 and 1990, had already sold his works on the Republic Square in São Paulo, the traditional art fair of this city. In the 1990s began to exhibit his work in the Jacques Ardie gallery in São Paulo. The recognition was immediate. He sold all the works from his 1st solo exhibition and started exporting to France and the United States. His work began to gain wide international acceptance and since then has exhibited all over the world and his canvases are in museums and private collections in several countries.

Ferreira puts in canvases his experience, which his work reveals to be very personal and internalized. He interprets the reality in which he worked and the universe in which he lives, with extreme visual sincerity. His style is marked by bright colors, a lot of imagination and the power of synthesis. This brings him a lot of acceptance in the United States and France, also in Israel, Canada, Spain, Switzerland, Mexico and Japan. Ferreira develops a naive line based on intuition, that rose naturally and remains in constant technical improvement, with current interest in the Dutch masters.

Above all, Ferreira's art has an aesthetic concern. He does not give in to the individual preferences of the observer, but seeks the best way to express his inner world through a professional attitude to the arts. It means intense and serious action against accommodation. The ways in which his personal style matures include a visionary attitude. Ferreira has never stopped searching, both on the topics on the art to unite the power of intuition to aesthetic research on the world of Jureia. The painter does not limit himself to repeating formulas, even if they seem to work.

One of the fascinations of being self-taught lies precisely in the power of not attending any school. His production becomes more and more sophisticated by the commitment to make better works, developing variations according to his own capacity to work with elements like color and composition.

The fidelity to the individualism of his own ideas and the commitment to build an increasingly coherent plastic work, without losing lyricism and distinguished poetics, ensure Ferreira's position as a genuinely naive artist. The compositions with mountains, forests and rivers or coves establish a plastic balance, in terms of formal and, above all, philosophical elements, since Ferreira's canvases do not convey anxiety. They are a manifestation of serenity in the troubled world of the 21st century.
