Presentation

He is Franco-Ontarian by birth. In his late twenties, he migrated to Montreal's burgeoning culture on which he ate abundantly. He will remain there for about thirty years during which time the art of collage will become part of his artistic palette again, since he touched this medium in his youth. He is 100% self-taught.

Over the years he will be a painter in a craft cabinetmaker's shop, a radio programmer, a musician's agent, the owner of a bed and breakfast (B & B) where he will meet Diane Desmarais (painter) who will encourage him to pursue his artistic approach. She convinced him to create real works of art and to abandon collage on objects. He will make his first exhibition some time after this meeting. An encounter with the painter and sculptor Laurent Viens will also be decisive since he transmits to him notions and techniques based on his personal experience. Marc considers him his master of art.

Today, his approach is unfaithful to the suffocating self-imposed rules. His gait is bright as in his yellow paintings, positive as green and determined as red. What holds his attention mainly during the creation is the strong need to define movements, to combine colours and to create unthinkable scenes, to lead to a work that is at the same time a pleasure for the eye and the intellect. For the most part, he has no message to convey through his works, except to express the beautiful side of life.

Now that he is retired, it is a pure joy for him to explore and evoke in his works the environment around him and to try to capture on canvas the subtlety of nature's movements and colours.

He is passionate about life. He listens to his instincts, which allows him to have fun in his creations and thus not to isolate himself in any technique but to let himself express a real emotion. Continuously in search of texture, movement and effects, his canvases reflect the moment, the space he lives in. They reflect the free and curious man that he is. Portugal, where he resides during the winter months, has given substance and inspiration to this artist in search of new challenges.
