Presentation

Born in 1961 in Shanghai, China, Du Zhenjun currently lives and works between Shanghai and Paris, France. Classically trained, Du Zhenjun is a multidisciplinary artist who primarily creates using multimedia. In his video installations, Du encourages audience interactivity and uses the computer as a medium to reveal the powers of our information society and its ability to integrate anyone -- to manipulate the individual. Transforming the space, he offers various levels of reading in creations that oscillate between playful and tragic content. As his first photographic series "Tower of Babel" (started in 2010) reflects, Du uses irony to pointedly investigate a contemporary, apocalyptic world wherein humanity faces disasters that it has self-generated.
