Santiago is of Colombian origin and he lives and works in Atlanta.
He is very much influenced by his origin, by Latin-American realism and by cinema and he has created a world in which light and dark combine. There is a little something in his work that cannot be defined?
Santiago offers us an experience of the world in tension, like a dialogue between things and the space where they exist. He describes this dialogue as incomprehensible poetry. There are spaces inside spaces, geometry, wide open fields full of life, but apparently empty.
Are these choreographed highways and these empty spaces all involved in a dialogue with a mobile frontier?
The artist says: ?I see the world in a way that I find both strange and authentic. The world is bizarre, complicated but eternally fascinating. My images speak about the relationship between reality and perception.?
