Biography

Martin Boldsen is a self-taught Danish visual artist who draws inspiration from the unexpected color combinations he encounters in everyday life, whether in nature, urban settings, or other places where colors interact in unique ways. These moments, where colors harmonize in surprising ways, inspire him to incorporate them into his paintings, creating compositions that are both original and captivating.

Influenced by renowned artists such as Asger Jorn and Erik Jørgensen, Boldsen takes a bold approach to color, often defying conventional rules to allow contrasts to shine through. His works conceal human figures, almost always subtly revealed by a pair of eyes that emerge within the composition.

He strives to create works that not only blend into their surroundings, but also evoke warmth and connection, drawing viewers into a deeper emotional experience. With over 25 years of experience, Boldsen has exhibited his work extensively at art fairs, public institutions, and galleries in Denmark and abroad.
